War Twins

North American - Twin war-gods of the Acoma. These twins, gods and culture-heroes, were said to have stolen the staffs that control the weather from the Direction Chiefs when they were asleep. When they realised their loss, these weather guardians sent a watersnake after the culprits, followed by a huge flood. The tribe escaped by climbing to high ground while the twins killed the serpent. Occasionally known as War Twins, Ahayuta achi, Ahayuta achi, War Brothers, Haida Tow, Haida Tow, Tow-us-Tussin, Tow-us-Tussin, Tow, Tewa Towaesendo, Tewa Towaesendo, Hayunu, Zuni Ahayuta achi or Zuni Ahayuta achi.
