He acquired great knowledge from a wise priest who was, in fact, the god Vishnu who taught him also how to change his shape by transferring his soul to a dead body. Vikrama then changed himself into a bird and flew to the the home of the princess Malayavati who slept in a pomegranate. He brought the fruit back, resumed his normal shape and, when the princess emerged, made her his wife. Sometimes known as Vikrama, Vikramaditya or Vikramaditya.
