Vari Ma Te Takere

Pacific Islands - A mother-goddess of the Hervey. Islands. Mother of Atea, Raka, Tango, Tinirau, Tu-Metua and Tumuteanaoa. Three of her children were born from her left side, three from the right. She is said to live curled up in the lowest part of the world coconut or in an egg on the bed of the primordial ocean. Sometimes referred to as Vari Ma Te Takere, Varima Te Takere or Varima Te Takere.
