Uttu

Mesopotamian - A Sumerian spider-goddess, goddess of weaving. Goddess of earth and plants, some say. Daughter of Enki and Ninkurra. Enki fathered Ninsar on Ninhursaga, then Ninkurra on Ninsar and finally Uttu on Ninkurra, each birth requiring only a nine-day gestation. Other accounts say that she was Ninhursaga's daughter. She was seduced and abandoned by Enki whose wife, Ninhursaga, recovered some of his semen from Uttu's body and grew eight plants.
