South American - The thunder-god of the Guarani. Indians. Tupan was originally a demon who caused thunder when he crossed the heavens, but was later promoted to the status of deity. He was one of the two brothers who survived the Flood. Some versions say he was one of four survivors, the others being Coem, Hermitten and Krimen. He is depicted as a short man with curly hair, attended by two stormbirds. At times, referred to as Tupan, Tupa, Tupa, Tupi or Tupi.
