triad

General - A group of 3 deities. In many cases where a given culture has many gods, a group of three is especially revered. The Christian religion is said to be monotheistic and the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are to be regarded as one deity. This view would put them in the same category as many of the gods of other religions which have various names for one god according to the aspect under consideration, rather than in the groups of three separate gods.
