Japanese - Daughter of Oribe Shima. When her father was banished to a far off land by the emperor, Tokoyo went in search of him. She came upon a priest about to throw a maiden into the sea as a sacrifice to the serpent-god, Yofuné-Nushi, and volunteered to take the girl's place. Jumping into the sea, she met the serpent-god and killed him. She found an image of the emperor on the sea-bed and took this, together with the dead serpent, back to land. The return of the image returned the emperor to full health and, in gratitude, he recalled Oribe Shima who was re-united with Tokoyo. On occassion, called Tokoyo.
