Sun Snarer

North American - In the lore of the Seneca, a boy who captured the sun. This boy, whose clothes were burnt by the sun, made a noose of pubic hair and lassoed the sun. As a result, the sun nearly died from strangulation and the earth grew dark. The animals became afraid and, one after the other, chewed at the rope until it finally parted and the sun shone once again. Also commonly called Sun Snarer.
