Siggeir

Norse - King of the Goths. Husband of Signy. At his wedding to Signy, he failed to pull the sword Gram out of the oak tree, Branstock, where it had been planted by Odin, and became so jealous of Signy's twin brother, Sigmund, who succeeded and claimed the sword that he planned to kill the whole Volsung family. He invited them to his palace and, despite warnings of treachery, they accepted. The Goths ambushed them, killing Volsung and tying his sons to fallen trees in the forest where they were left to their fate. All except Sigmund were eaten by wolves. Occasionally called Siggeir.
