Rishya-Shringa

Hindu - Son of Vibhandaka. Husband of Shanta. Vibhandaka married a doe who bore him a son, Rishya-Shringa, who had a small set of antlers on his forehead. Another story says that he was reared by his father in a remote forest, completely ignorant of the world outside. A neighbouring king was told that the current drought would be ended only when Rishya-Shringa was no longer chaste so the boy was abducted and married to the king's daughter. Almost immediately rain began to fall. In some references, called Rishya-Shringa, Rishyacringa or Rishyacringa.
