Greek - A sculptor-king of Cyprus. Husband of Galatea. Father of Paphos and Phrasius. A man who hated real women but a fine sculptor who carved the statue of a perfect woman and fell in love with her. When Aphrodite brought the statue to life, Pygmalion named her Galatea and married her. Some say that their daughter was Metharme, not Paphos. Another account says that he was married to Cynisca who was jealous of the statue and Galatea returned to her former state as a block of marble. In some references, called Pygmalion.
Greek - King of Tyre. Brother of Dido. He killed Sychaeus, Dido's husband, but she escaped taking much of her husband's wealth with her and founded the city of Carthage. On occassion, identified as Pygmalion.
