East Indian - A deity of Kei Island. Brother of Hian. He lost the fish-hook of his elder brother, Hian, who got it back when it was returned to him by a fish. When Hian spilled some palm wine, Parpara made him dig a hole to find it. He dug so deep that he made a hole in the sky. Both the brothers, together with another brother and a sister, accompanied by four dogs, descended through the hole on a rope and came down to earth where they became the progenitors of the islanders. Sometimes called Parpara.
