Greek - The seat of Apollo at Delphi, held to be the centre of the world. What was known as the navel stone at Delphi was in fact the stone which Rhea had wrapped and given to Cronus to swallow when he thought he was swallowing his latest son, Zeus, and which he was later forced to regurgitate together with the children he had already swallowed. It was said that the exact centre of the earth was ascertained by Zeus who set two eagles to fly from opposite ends of the earth. They met at Delphi. In some accounts, known as Omphalus, Omphalos or Omphalos.
