European - The ivory horn of Roland. Some say that this horn originally belonged to Alexander the Great. In some accounts, Roland acquired this horn, and the sword Durindana, when he defeated the giant Jutmundus. Others say he won them when he killed Almontes. The horn, which could be heard for twenty miles, was blown finally to great effect at Roncesvalles. Occasionally identified as Olivant, Oliphant or Oliphant.
