Old Man

North American - A creator-spirit of many tribes. The Aleuts say that he made humans by throwing stones over his shoulder. In the lore of the Blackfoot and Modoc, he was a culture-hero as well as a creator. The Blood Indians say that he originally made men and women separately and placed them far away from each other but soon realised that he had made a mistake and brought them together so that they could mate. Other tribes say that Old Man used balls of mud to make humans. At times, identified as Old Man.
North American - A name used in speech to refer to Coyote. Occasionally referred to as Old Man.
