Australian - A name for the god Baime used by the Aborigines of the Murray. River basin. Brother-in-law of Ngurunderi. Ngurunderi speared a pondi (cod) which swam off but was speared again by Nepele. They then cut the fish into small pieces and threw them, one by one, into a lake, naming each as they did so. Thus, all species of fish were created. Occasionally identified as Nepele, Nepelle or Nepelle.
