Nemean games

Greek - Games held at five-yearly intervals. This event was held to commemorate either Opheltes the infant son of Lycurgus and Nemea who was killed by snake-bite or the early life and deeds of Heracles whose first Labour was to kill the Nemean lion. In some accounts, the games were held every two years rather than every five years. Occasionally identified as Nemean games.
