Nanak

Sikh - (1469-1538). The founder of Sikhism. First of 10 gurus. It is said that all the gods of the Hindu pantheon appeared at his birth which was accompanied by celestial music. He was later carried up to heaven by angels to receive instruction from god and returned to earth to preach his doctrines. He appears as a wonder-worker in Sikh lore. Occasionally referred to as Nanak, Guru Nanak, Guru Nanak, Nanak Chand or Nanak Chand.
