African - A boy who went to the moon. In the lore of Tanzania, the boy Murile went to the moon either by riding on a magic stool that he had made or by climbing a rope. Once there, he taught the people of the Moon-chief how to make fire and was rewarded with many cattle. He later returned to earth with his cattle, having promised never to eat the flesh of such animals. When he inadvertently ate some of the fat of a bull, he disappeared into the ground. Sometimes called Murile.
