Japanese - A bodhisattva. As a boy, he challenged Kobo Daishi to a contest and, when the saint wrote on the sky and the surface of water, the boy drew a dragon on the water. The saint added a dot that the boy had omitted, whereupon the dragon came to life and flew up to heaven, closely followed by Monju. Occasionally referred to as Monju, Lord of Wisdom, Lord of Wisdom, Buddhist Manjushri, Buddhist Manjushri, Wen Shu, Dai-itoku, Dai-itoku, Amida, Goemmason or Buddhist Yamantaka.
