Norse - The well below Yggdrasil in Asgard. In some accounts, this well was guarded by Mimir while others say that it came into being when Odin made a shrine there with the head of Mimir who had been decapitated by the Vanir and a spring erupted at that point. Others say that the head was placed next to Urda's Well in Midgard. This was the well from which Odin drank to gain knowledge, giving up one of his eyes in payment. The eye was placed in the well. In some references, identified as Mimisbrunnr, Well of Knowledge, Well of Knowledge or Well of Segais.
