Mimir

Norse - A god of the primordial ocean. A wise sea-giant. Guardian of the Well of Knowledge. Son of Aegir and Ran. Son of Bolthor, some say. Brother of Gymir. In some stories he was one of the hostages given to the Vanir and was decapitated by them when he refused to give them the secrets of the Aesir. His head was given to Odin who preserved it by magic, giving it the power of speech so that he could consult it when needed. Sometimes identified as Mimir, Hodmimir, Hodmimir, Mimir, Memor, Memor, Mimir, Mim, Mim, Mimer, Mimer, Mimer-Nidhad, Mimer-Nidhad, Mimi, Mimi, Mime, Mimr, Mimr or Mimir.
