Greek - Daughter of Orion and Side. Sister of Menippe. An oracle decreed that the sacrifice of two virgins was necessary to lift the plague that had descended on Orchomenus, so the two sisters, known as the Corinides, killed themselves with the shuttles from their looms. They were placed in the heavens as comets. In some accounts, two youths, known as the Coroni, rose from the ashes of their funeral pyre. Referred to as Metioche.
