Greek - Son of Creon and Eurydice. When Oedipus unwittingly married his own mother, Jocasta, a plague descended on Thebes. Teiresias warned that it would cease only when a descendant of one of the Sown Men gave his life for the city, whereupon Menoeceus committed suicide by thrusting his own sword into his throat and hurling himself from the city walls into the dragon's pit. In some accounts, this was Megareus. In some references, called Menoceus.
