Greek - A nymph. One of the Nereids. Sometimes known as Menippe.
Greek - Mother of Eurystheus. In some lore, occasionally identified as Menippe.
Greek - One of the Muses, in some accounts. Mother of Orpheus. Called Menippe.
Greek - Daughter of Orion and Side. Sister of Metioche. When an oracle decreed that, to lift the famine that had descended on Orchomenus, the sacrifice of two virgins was necessary, the two sisters, known as the Coronides, killed themselves with the shuttles from their looms. They were both placed in the heavens as comets. In some accounts, two youths, the Coroni, rose from the ashes of their funeral pyre. In some references, identified as Menippe.
