Greek - Son of Peteos. He either usurped the throne or was made ruler of Athens by Castor and Polydeuces when they invaded Attica to rescue their sister Helen during the period when Theseus was imprisoned in Tartarus. He was one of the Greeks hidden inside the Wooden Horse and was killed at Troy or, in some versions, survived but found the throne occupied by Demophoon, son of Theseus, and became king of Melos instead of Athens. Sometimes known as Menestheus.
