Mahipala

Jain - An ascetic hermit. Grandfather of Parsva. When Parsva disturbed his meditation, Mahipala split a log with an axe despite his grandson's warning that he would kill two snakes in the log. Parsva was able to restore the serpents with his hymns, one as Ananta, the other as Lakshmi. In some lore, occasionally known as Mahipala.
