It was drawn and claimed by Balin and led to his death and that of his brother Balan. The sword had once belonged to the girl's lover who had been killed by her brother. In some accounts, it was Lyle herself who took the sword to the court. In some accounts, referred to as Lyle, Lady of Lyle, Lady of Lyle, Lile or Lile.
