Norse - Elves of light. Their home was Alfheim suspended between earth and heaven. They were ruled by Frey and were responsible for birds, butterflies and flowers. The fairy-rings seen in the grass are the sites of their dancing and are said to bring luck to - or, in some stories, kill - those who stand in them. Identified as Liosalfar, Light Elves, Light Elves, Nibelungen, Ljosalfar or Ljosalfar.
