Li Pa-pai

Chinese - An immortal. He is said to have walked 800 miles every day or, in some versions, to have lived for 800 years. In one story, he persuaded first the servants of T'ang Kung-fang, then his wife and finally the official himself to lick the sores on his body. When the promised cure did not come about, he bathed himself in wine and was cured and the others did likewise and became youthful once again. He gave T'ang Kung-fang a copy of the Tan Ching from which he prepared a potion that made him an immortal. Also commonly called Li Pa-pai.
