Greek - Son of Daedalus by a slave girl. He was locked with his father in the labyrinth housing the Minotaur on Crete by Minos but they were both freed by Pasiphae, the king's wife. They escaped from Crete by flying on wings of feathers and wax made by Daedalus. Ignoring instructions, he flew too close to the sun, whereupon the wax melted and he crashed into the sea and drowned. An alternative version says that Icarus was not killed but swam to the nearby island of Icaria and lived there for many years. In some accounts, identified as Icarus, Icarius, Icarius, Ikarios, Icarius, Icarius, Icarius, Icarius, Ikaros, Ikaros or Icarus.
