Hindu - One of The Seven Rishis. Husband of Ahalya. When his wife was seduced by Indra he caused a thousand impressions of the female genitalia to appear on Indra's body or, in some accounts, caused the god to lose his testes. He punished his wife by making her lie in ashes, living only on air, until she was rescued by Rama, many years later. He was the author of a code of laws.
