Gordius

Greek - King of Phrygia. Husband of Cybele. Father of Adrastus and Midas. In some accounts, the mother of Midas was Cybele and his father was Gorgias. He started life as a peasant but was elected king when he unwittingly fulfilled the prophecy of an oracle by entering Temissus driving his ox-cart. The oxen were tied to his cart with what became known as the Gordian knot. Known as Gordius.
