West Indian - The Haitian god of life and death. Brother of Azacca. Husband of Mama Brigitte. Originally a god of love, he was later combined with Baron Samedi as the god of death. He acts as guardian of the cross-roads and guide to the home of the souls of the dead and is envisaged as a dandy in evening clothes with a cane and sun-glasses. Occasionally identified as Ghede, Baron Samedi, Baron Samedi, Baron Cimetière, Baron la Croix, Baron Piquant, Baron Saturday, Cimetière, La Croix, Piquant, Samedi, Saturday, (Baron) Cimetière, (Baron) la Croix, (Baron) Piquant or (Baron) Saturday.
