African - Water-god of the Bambara. Twin brother of Pemba. Both he and Pemba grew from seeds planted at the four corners of the earth. He brought order out of the original chaos; created the seven heavens; killed Teliko, the spirit of the hot winds of the desert; produced the first human beings by impregnating himself and bearing twins and gave mankind the power of speech. He uprooted the tree-god, Pemba, when he was planted by the first woman, Musso-koroni. Occasionally called Faro.
African - In the lore of the Mande, the brother of the first man. In some references, referred to as Faro.
