Pacific Islands - A priest of Tagaloa. He persuaded forty-two youths and seven maidens to offer themselves for sacrifice to lift a plague and they tried to escape the clutches of the god of death in seven canoes. After many adventures and disasters, the crew of each boat was depleted, the rowers dying or being killed one by one, until only one youth and one maiden were left in each boat. At this point, Tagaloa relented and the survivors sailed safely to Samoa. Sometimes called Faitaulanga.
