Greek - A Thracian nymph, a dryad. Wife of Orpheus. She died when bitten by a snake as she was running to escape an attempted rape by Aristaeus. Orpheus went down to the underworld and charmed Hades into releasing her but, when Orpheus broke the rules by looking back to make sure she was following him, Hades reclaimed her and she was lost forever.
