Greek - A river-god. He was the god of a river not seen by mortals and into which Phaeton fell when Zeus struck him with a thunderbolt; said to be the Po. In another version it was the river itself which was formed from the tears of the Heliades, sisters of Phaeton, at his death. Also commonly identified as Eridanus, Eridanos or Eridanos.
