Elizabeth

British - Sister of King Mark. Wife of Meliad and mother of Tristram, in some accounts. When she was pregnant, her husband was captured by highwaymen or, some say, spirited away by an enchantress. She searched for him in the forest and died giving birth to Tristram. In some accounts, referred to as Elizabeth, Blanchefleur, Blanchefleur, Elizabeth, Blanchefl(e)or, Eliabel, Eliabel, Eliabella, Elizabeth, Isabella or Isabella.
German - Daughter of the king of Thuringia. She was loved by Tannhauser but he became infatuated with the witch of Venusberg. When he left the witch and returned to Elizabeth, he was rejected by his fellows and, to seek forgiveness, he made a pilgrimage to Rome. Elizabeth died of grief while he was away. Also commonly identified as Elizabeth, Blanchefleur, Blanchefleur, Elizabeth, Blanchefl(e)or, Eliabel, Eliabel, Eliabella, Elizabeth, Isabella or Isabella.
