El-lal

South American - A hero of the Patagonian Indians. Son of Nosjthej. He was hidden by Rat to save him from being eaten by his own father. As a man, he became lord of the earth by killing all the giants with his bow and arrow which he is said to have invented. He killed the giant-king, Goshy-e, by turning into a gadfly and poisoning him with his sting and then disappeared from the earth, leaving men to fend for themselves. Occasionally referred to as El-lal.
