Irish - Daughter of Dermot and Grania, some say in some accounts, wife of Art and mother of Cormac mac Airt. An alternative version of the birth of Cormac says that his mother was Eachtach who, when pregnant, dreamt that her head was cut off and a tree grew in its place. When her husband, Art, was killed at the Battle of Magh Mucramha, she went to stay with her brother-in-law, Lughna (the Luighne of the alternative story of Achtan) but the baby was born en route. The child was taken and suckled by a wolf but was later recovered and reared by Lughna. Known as Eachtach, Achtan, Achtan or Etain.
