Central American - An Aztec moon-goddess, goddesss of the hearth. Daughter of Coatlicue. She either goaded her 400 brothers into killing their mother or, some say, was about to warn her mother that her other children planned to kill her, when Huitzilopochtli was born fully formed and fully armed. He killed many of the rebellious children, including Coyolxauhqui whose head he cut off and threw into the heavens where it became the moon. In some lore, occasionally referred to as Coyolxauhqui.
