Greek - A flying ram with the golden fleece. This animal was fathered by Poseidon, in the form of a ram, on Theophane, in the form of a ewe, and later rescued Phrixus and his sister Helle from being sacrificed. It carried Phrixus to safety but Helle fell into the sea and died. Phrixus sacrificed the ram to the gods when he reached safety and its fleece was hung on a tree in Colchis, later to be retrieved by Jason and the Argonauts. Known as Chrysomallon, Chrysomallus or Chrysomallus.
