Greek - Daughter of Chryses. Mother of Chryses. When she was captured at Troy, she was given as a prize to Agamemnon. Her father pleaded for her release but Agamemnon refused until a plague descended on the Greek army. He then demanded the girl Briseis, who had been awarded to Achilles, so starting a quarrel that led to Achilles refusing to fight. In some accounts she bore a son, Chryses, to Agamemnon but said the boy's father was Apollo. Also known as Chryseis, Cressida, Cressida, Cressid, Criseyde, Khruseis or Khruseis.
