South American - A moon-goddess and goddess of drunkenness of the Chibcha Indians. Wife of Bochica or Nemquetcha. In some stories she sent the floods that devastated the land and was thereafter confined to the night sky as the moongoddess, in others the floods were the work of Chibchacum. Some accounts say that she was turned into an owl or the moon by Bochica or Nemquetcha. In some lore, occasionally referred to as Chia, Chie, Chie, Huitaca, Huitaca, Hunthaca or Hunthaca.
