British - A squire of King Arthur. Son of Owain the Bastard. He dreamt that he rode to a chapel in a forest and found there the body of a dead knight. He took one of the golden candlesticks from the chapel and left. He then met an armed man who called Chaus a thief and stabbed him in the thigh with his knife. The pain caused Chaus to wake up and he found a knife in his side, a golden candlestick in his hand and he died soon afterwards. At times, known as Chaus.
