Bona Dea

Roman - Daughter, sister or wife of Faunus. An obscure virgin-goddess worshipped only by women and associated with snakes. In some accounts she is identified with Fauna, Maia or Ops. Her father raped her, taking the form of a serpent. Her festival was held in December. Known as Bona Dea, Good Goddess, Good Goddess, Demeter, Fauna, Phrygian Cybele, Phrygian Cybele, Anat, Aphrodite, Astarte, Inanna, Kubaba, Magna Mater, Mater Turrita or Rhea.
