Hindu - Wife of Lakshmindra. Manasa, the snake-goddess, slipped into the bedroom on Behula's wedding night and killed her new husband, Lakshmindra, because his father, Chand, had always refused to worship her. Behula pleaded with the goddess, who restored Lakshmindra to life when Chand relented and offered to worship Manasa. A different story refers to Behula as a model of devotion. In this story, her husband was killed by a snake bite and she accompanied his dead body on a raft, floating down the river, seeking the means of restoring her husband to life. With the help of Manasa she was able to achieve this end. Also identified as Behula.
