Apuleius, Lucius

Roman - A 2nd C. Writer. Husband of Aemilia Pudentilla. Born in Africa, he studied in Athens and Rome and was the author of The Golden Ass, which includes the story of Cupid and Psyche. He was accused of having acquired his wife, a rich widow, by making use of magic, but was acquitted of the charge. Also referred to as Apuleius, Lucius, Appuleius, Appuleius or Apuleius.
