Apples of the Hesperides

Greek - The golden apples that grew on the tree given to Hera at her wedding. This tree was guarded by the Hesperides, the daughters of Atlas, and its apples were the object of the eleventh labour of Hercules. The apples themselves were the colour of gold and tasted like honey. Used as missiles, they always struck whatever they were aimed at and returned to the thrower's hand. They also had the power of healing. Also called Apples of the Hesperides.
